IMAX 3D

Has anyone seen this in IMAX 3D yet? It is worth it?

reply

Nearly every theater chain in the USA is offering $3 for any ticket and any format on Saturday September 3, 2022. The theaters near me have many near sellouts, (per online seat reservations), but not for Jaws (1975.)

The 3d is full price, but the IMAX is 3 bux at mine.

Edit: I was wrong, it's all 3 bux! Got my tix, i'm going today!

I also noticed that my theater is showing the original 50s The Blob!

Just got back. Definitely worth it. Because of how Spielberg shot this movie, it's almost like he knew it was gonna be 3D one day. He always has the actors spread out from the front of the screen to the back, there's always great depth of field which the 3D just made pop like magic. A lot of really gorgeous scenes, almost all of them benefited from the 3D. I picked out many details i've never seen before and i've seen this movie a hundred times. Big thumbs up. Definitely as close as i'll ever experience to seeing this in the theater back in the day. A few of the jump scares even made me jump again! Very cool.

I went and saw it as well. Spielberg did a lot of classical framing, i.e., putting things in the foreground to show depth, and I think that's why it worked so well. I was very surprised by how different the movie looked. Right from the beginning scene on the beach, it was obvious the movie was going to make good use of 3D.

Man, that beach scene around the fire was especially gorgeous. You felt like you were there.
