This was a totally solid sequel to an Oscar-winning hit movie. The second half rocked, as Popeye went on his revenge trail by burning down that hotel and then endlessly chasing Charnier before killing him.
There were two great shootouts, as well, perhaps better than the one which ended the first movie.

FC2 is actually better than FC even though it flopped at the box office (probably becoz people dont want to see heroin withdrawal scenes) and won no oscars. it actually cost 3million dollars to make and only made about 15 million dollars

That would still be considered a hit today. 2022’s Fall grossed $21.8 million on a $3M budget and there are already two sequels planned. It’s just that major studios today no longer make anything for much under $100 million.
And had The OP foreseen the regression American cinema would experience from '16-today, he'd be grateful for those eras in which movies like FCII were regularly produced
