I thought actors were on strike?

...but I saw advertisement for a new episode last night?

i don't get it either. far as i know the writer's strike is over even though nothing new has been signed into action yet. the actors were striking in solidarity. But that's still happening, right? and the writers aren't standing with the actors in return, they're just like sit on it and twirl? it's all very confusing.

From USA Today:
"The program is a SAG-AFTRA non-dramatic production under a separate agreement that is not subject to the union's strike order," SAG-AFTRA said in a statement. "The majority of our members who are regular cast on Saturday Night Live had contractual obligations to the show prior to the strike

Interesting. It doesn't actually say what or how it's a separate agreement, nor does it explain how other actors that were also under contract before the strike can't continue working. It almost seems like it's just out of conversation.

Yeah, those are just words that don't explain how that is possible. It would be like me saying "I have a seperate agreement with the government that says I don't have to pay taxes"... without explaining anything further.
