Open Topic: Did Carl Kolchak need a sidekick OR Gal Friday ?

From your feedback I get the notion that because of the very small supporting cast (let's face it-- Updyke and Miss Emily had little more than a few minutes of screen time--or LESS per episode).
So.....
Did Kolchak need a Gal Friday , Jimmy Olsen type sidekick OR occasional "Gail Foster" replacement to help him out ?

P.S. They could have done sooooooo much if Gail Foster (the scrumptious Carol Lynley) had one returning episode!!!!

No. They needed more money. I heard the cost of production was prohibitive.

I was just thinking of the first time they saddled Carl with a partner. He locked her in the trunk of his car. (Poor Monique)
