The Poltergeist Episode.

We often talk of scary things in movies or TV shows we watched as a child that had an effect on us. But when I discussed this recently with my sister, I realized that this episode of the Waltons (OF ALL SHOWS) had a huge effect on me. 'The Changeling' from season 7, it deals with the phenomenon of Poltergeist. Some quite scary scenes and some one says words to the effect of if you're scared of growing up, you may be subject to Poltergeist at around the age of 13. Now being such a wholesome show and a realistic depiction of life in rural America in the 1930s/40s, this episode came as a huge shock and gave it all the more impact. After all, if it's on the Waltons it's got to be real doesn't it ?. I didn't really feel comfortable that I was going to escape the poltergeist phenomenon until I actually turned 14.

There was a poltergeist episode of The Waltons?? What was it, a Halloween special?

There didn't seem to be any indication that it was meant to be anything other than a normal episode of the Waltons. I remember things like the little girls doll moving by itself and the piano playing by itself downstairs in the middle of the night. It was all rather eerie and all quite serious in tone.

Zeb's ghost. He had a strong connection with Elizabeth. He was frustrated he wasn't able to communicate and took his joking too far.

In another episode, Mary Ellen's son John Curtis was lost. They showed Zeb's photo was titled and alluded that John Curtis was able to Zeb's ghost.

I remember that episode when it originally aired. Very creepy.

It was
Elizabeth gaining the telekinetic ability temporally because of adolescence. Real phenomenon, I read.
