Las Vegas as a setting for a Bond film.

Don´t know about you guys but Vegas always seemed like a terrible choice to set a Bond movie in, especially early 70s Vegas. The scene that stands out to me for all the wrong reasons is when Bond is playing craps at Circus Circus casino. He is wearing a tuxedo while everyone else is wearing casual wear, he just looks so out of place, and a far cry from the luxurious casinos from the earlier films.

Maybe they should have set it in the early 60s.

I love Bond in Vegas; but your point about the 70s setting is well taken. Vegas in the 60s had some class (I think) as SandyR suggests. Still, it's one of my favorite Bond movies, and I like Bond in Las Vegas. At least for one time. The juxtaposition of Bond in Vegas as opposed to Monte Carlo I always loved.

Yeah interesting point about 60s Vegas and also the juxtaposition. I guess part of it was the shift to a campier tone also. If Craig's Bond had visited Vegas in the current era, you certainly wouldnt have seen him playing baccarat or craps at Circus Circus!
