Here's something I don't get...

How on earth did Mr. Potts' kids fall for the Child Catcher's crappy disguise? It wasn't even that good! It's just an fancy orange cloak thrown over his nasty black suit! I remember being 6-7 years old when I first saw this film, and even at that age, I would have seen there was something not right about him!

Now I get that the kids didn't know who he was, nor did they see him enter town with his black prison carriage, but the guy was still very ugly, had a nasty voice, and gave off a creepy vibe, even with the disguise on.

Didn't anyone teach those kids never to accept candy from a stranger? Was Mr. Potts really that bad at teaching his kids to protect themselves? Even in the time period this story takes place, they were warning kids not to talk to strangers.

It just baffled me that the kids could be so clever about a lot of things, and yet fall for the tricks of an obviously bad guy.

Because their greed for sweets over powered their common sense.

Sweetgreed. A vice kids are particularly susceptible to.

They would have had to be deliriously hungry to let that cloud their judgement. But then again, the stupid toymaker who was hiding them and Truly never bothered to stash some extra food in his breakroom either.
