The poster is referring to the days when an hour-long broadcast slot meant about 52 minutes of the actual program and eight minutes of commercials and station identification. Today the ratio is 42 minutes for the program and 18 minutes for commercials and endless repetitions of promos for upcoming shows. At one time, half-hour slots contained about 26 minutes of programming and four minutes of ads. Today's half-hour programs run only about 22-24 minutes.

When you watch these classic programs today there can be up to ten minutes cut out of the hour specials. Or four minutes missing from the half-hour shows. That's 15-20% of material gone! And some of the cable/satellite channels are even worse.

The only way to watch these beloved holiday specials is on DVD/Blu-ray.

Not only that, but up until the late 1960s tv series ran 39 episodes per season, including a new Christmas episode every year.

I'm glad that I have this on DVD.
