Best Bond Novel

What do you consider the best Bond novel?

Read all the old paperbacks back in 1968. "From Russia with Love" was my fave but they were all awesome. Almost addictive.

I've read Dr. No, FRWL and just started Goldfinger. I'm just not sure if I should read them in proper order or select the most popular ones. Thanks for the reply.

I really recommend all the short stories. They are a nifty mix of tight little thrillers, odd vignettes and character background for Bond.

reply

Thanks. I'm gonna look for those.

Make sure you get the original versions. They're editing newer reprints for content, no kidding.

That's actually pretty difficult. I read them all back in the '60s-70s and a few years ago I listened to them all as audiobooks again... And recently I was reading the short stories again... I'm not wild about The Man With the Golden Gun or The Spy Who Loved Me, but all of the others work really well for me. I suppose the only thing to do is whittle away the ones that seem weakest - So. Diamonds are Forever seemed less interesting and had a poor conclusion... And, that's as far as I can get. I like the rest, including the short stories, more or less equally.

I really need to re-read them. It's been too many years to say for sure!

I would say From Russia, with Love for its grounded approach of espionage although it ends on an unfortunate cliffhanger. However, my other favorites are Casino Royale, Moonraker, and On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

I've read FRWL but thanks for the other suggestions.
