well, what would have been amazing would've been a woman of arab origin, yeah, yeah, i know about the greek thing... but still. i never found elizabeth taylor as a great iconic movie star beauty, some say she rather is pretty, sophia loren on the other hand, haven't she also played cleopatra in a much more obscure movie, for being such a movie icon loren sure have been in a lot of forgotten movies, i hear she's returning to the big screen this year, the latest thing i saw her in was an italian (if i recall right) short film, what a powerful amazing actress, did you know she was suppose to play the girl in "two women" but she blew the movie makers away to the extent they put her in the lead. back to cleopatra, there are a lot of great actors in this, you know what i must recommend to you, the twilight zone episode "queen of the nile", or better yet, the radio 📻 version titled "the twilight zone radio dramas queen of the nile", again, i always wished they used someone with arab origin there as well.

i want to take you with,
into the land of dreams,
but far away you drifted off,
stays only a minute or so,
scramble for coins and the magic is gone,
from the story got to let you go.

I think either Irene Papas or Sofia Loren would have done a better job, at least would have the look more close to real Cleopatra. Cleopatra should not have blue eyes and she need stronger features.

I would change nothing about this film. I always liked Liz in the movie. She's a bit whiny and shrill perhaps, but I really respond to her desperation. Furthermore, I can't really separate this production from the lead actor. She just is Cleopatra to me. I think this movie is much better than anyone gives it credit for.
