I'm glad this thing only lasted 28 minutes. I guess I just ain't intellectual enough!

shareDon't worry. It's not to be intellectual, these things are only for some tastes. For me it is such a masterpiece.
shareWhat didn't you get, OP? I'd be happy to help you try to understand whatever you think you missed.
sharei liked it for the visual journey it was.. the idea of memory and time-travel was OK too
shareI haven't seen it yet but I can't imagine it matching the quality of Terry Gilliam's remake in any way. This feels like the kind of film that is mandatory viewing when one is enrolled in film school, but isn't necessarily something you'd ever watch on your own time. As much as this will probably piss off the classic film snobs, I think this is one instance where the remake is so good and accomplished on its own, that it renders the original blueprint from which it was based a bit mute.
It may be a great film, but its appeal seems definitely limited to the stuffy arthouse crowd, as opposed to 12 Monkeys' successful merging of both mainstream and sophisticated audience palettes.
Hahaha. The teacher showed it to us in high school and I was like "this is so lame".
However, I definitely need to rewatch it as an adult because I don't think I appreciated the depth.
