Nancy Kwan, wow!
I vaguely remember seeing World of Suzie Wong decades ago and remembering the lead actress Nancy Kwan was pretty.
Well, she is drop dead gorgeous in this film. Absolutely stunning! Easily the best thing about this film!
It's true, she IS the best thing about this movie, which is lackluster in every other way.
It's a pity Kwan didn't have the A-list career that she absolutely had the talent, charisma, and looks to have, but Hollywood had nothing for Asian actors in her day. A few eked out a living playing servants and Japanese soldiers in WWII films, but most of those roles were taken by white actors in godawful makeup. Even Bruce Lee had to go overseas to get anywhere, the best role that Hollywood had for him was playing a white lummox's sidekick.
