Saw this at a student assembly in eighth grade.

At my junior high school back in the early 70s, they would occasionally gather us in the auditorium during school hours and show a movie. I remember Mary, Mary with Debbie Reynolds being one of them.

Then one day we showed up and got to see Psycho. The junior high had seventh through ninth grades, so we're talking about kids from 11 to 14 years old. Back in like 71 or 72. (When Psycho was still shocking stuff.)

Today, there would undoubtedly be lawsuits. But I'm proud to say we all survived the experience.

That's a great story.

I think maybe Psycho was shocking enough -- but not graphic enough -- that indoctrinating youths on its great cinematic attributes was done well enough, even in 1971.

I mean, Citizen Kane is a masterpiece too -- but there's no audience screaming in it.

I envy you your student assembly!
