Is this movie considered politically correct?

And could any sane person possibly care about political correctness if they saw this masterpiece? Because it is, it's a lovely and haunting film, bursting with heart-stopping samba music and sexual energy that was unheard of in the films of the mid 20th century.

Which doesn't stop it from being sweet and deeply poetic. [Sings] "...and the happiness of the poor is the great illusion of Carnaval…"

Why not? The male and female leads are black.

If they would have been white, the movie could considered politically incorrect, but since they're black, the movie is clearly politically correct.

reply

No, because it fetishizes black bodies. Had it been made by Brazilians, it would be a different story.
