Is the second half of the film a dream? I've heard the theory that everything from Scotty's hospitalization on is a dream, he just fantasized or hallucinated Judy and everything that happened with her.

I do NOT like this theory!

No, I think it's a much better story if Scotty is actually released, and he's batshit crazy and a danger to himself and others. And Judy is real, and so is everything she suffers.

not sure but i always thought the film fell off the rails in the latter portion..

i love Hitchcock.. but this one tried TOO hard and failed.
