I'm watching it on Svengoolie right now (in Arizona). Years ago, I first watched it because Aneta Corsault was in it, and I'm a life-long Andy Griffith Show fan. I liked it, so I've watched it many times since (and purchased the DVD and the book). I wanted to watch it tonight to see what was said about it.

I haven't been familiar with Svengoolie for very long -- maybe a year or two. I noticed it on MeTV, and saw that it was old science fiction movies, so now I check every week to see what movie it is. I wouldn't say that he makes ALL of them worth watching, however.

I saw it for the first time on Svengoolie too. I thought it was cool that Sven showed black and white clips in his comedy song act involving actors who also happened to be on the Andy Griffith Show, priceless! The global warming fact would make sense, it was that generation of young adults at the time who would lay the groundwork for environmental movements a decade later, the 60s, culminating in the passing of legislation and organizational body, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

I've been in Arizona for many years, but I'm from Shorewood, Illinois. When did this rubber chicken thing happen?

Statesville, the panopticon prison? That's in Crest Hill. My mother worked in a restaurant in the Hillcrest Shopping Center, but I never saw the prison. (I show a photo of it to my students, however.)

My eldest brother's ex-wife was from Channahon.

My mother and I left Illinois in 1975 when I was 13. The road we lived on is now named after my family (Seil), which is kind of cool, but back then it was just Route #1.

Well, that certainly wasn't the case with my family. Our farmhouse was over 100 years old, and we definitely weren't wealthy. I was last there in 2004, and the house is still standing. I recognized the area, including my old Troy School, but there were different buildings along Rt. 59.

I'm still getting my thoughts together about The Blob. Hopefully, I'll have more to contribute soon. I live in the American South but having Moviechat as a platform to spring our ideas from is a good first start. If the event brought profit and positive recognition to the area, bringing the community together, why would it be scandalous? I'll check your link.
