Lee Van Cleef.....

doesn't say a word in this film.

Mighty fine performance, though. Around the time when Miller shows up (Miller time!) I was thinking about how Van Cleef comes off as all the stronger *because* he says nothing.

he had that look

funny how he doesn't speak a word in this movie, i didn't think of that, isn't there some similar story with the movie "the terminator" about the lead having very limited dialogue. it seems lee van cleef wears the same sort of hat in different movies, i know he went into some regular actions at the end of his career. also western movie icon jack elam appears uncredited in this, he played the coolest guys at the end of his career, also going outside of the regular western roles, and he also had an hilarious part in the twilight zone episode "will the real martian please stand up?" (also later adapted to radio in the 21st century on the great "the twilight zone radio dramas" though without elam), the only movie i've seen him as the star in was "the aurora encounter" (1986) described as "weird western science fiction".

you stay far away,
dress like an eskimo everyday,
miss your boobies, rear, sandals n legs,
you never come out to play,
as youre here but like left the place.

It was his first film! Didn't realize that until now but a small part with no dialogue makes sense for a first film - it was his intensity that made it significant.
