I cant stand the singing in these films

I love millions of westerns but why for the love of god dont sing its a major turn off if your trying to impress mates with these great films.

Then you would hate the brief moments of song in Buffalo Bill (1944). Sergeant Chips McGraw (Edgar Buchanan) occasionally sings a line or two from "The Regular Army O" while working on something. I think they deliberately made his singing bad as characterization.

It was first published in 1874, and soldiers on the frontier were singing it by the Great Sioux War of 1876-77 and often changing it to fit their circumstances.

The songs and singing in "Rio Grande" are perfect. The Sons of the Pioneers added a lot to this movie. Ken Curtis, in particular, was great.
