I notice that in the few episodes that take place in the Nortons' apartment they seem to have many more material things than the Kramdens, i.e. television, more furniture, curtains, rugs, pictures. Did Ed make a lot more than Ralph or was Ralph especially thrifty and tight with his money or Ed more spendthrift and lavish.

The time he thought he was a millionaire he basically spent it all in one day. Alice was the more sensible one, but she definitely deserved at least at TV and a phone.

I always thought it was because of Ed buying furniture on credit, along with Ralph throwing away money on crazy, hair-brained schemes that was the difference.
Norton helps his finances by raiding Ralph's icebox, or just showing up at dinnertime.

shareRalph probably lost more through his schemes than Norton even though the series never touched on it much. Ralph probably played the numbers more than he ever let on to Alice about it.
