There is NO QUESTION: Gracie was funnier - Lucy was all slapstick, visual humor. Gracie was verbally funny...

They were both great in their own ways. It isn't a question of who the funnier one was. Each lady had her own unique act and style.
I love both. I prefer Gracie.

Forget about Lucy. Gracie was funnier than GEORGE. He even said so in his Playboy interview. Gracie made George, she teed up his lines perfectly. I have never enjoyed slapstick, not even as a little boy. Things like the Three Stooges irritate me. Slapstick is cheap and facile. It’s like the scene in Transporter 3, where Frank Martin is debating with his French cop buddy, which one was funnier, Jerry Lewis or Dean Martin, and the cop is championing Lewis. Frank replies, “Anybody can get a laugh by falling down. Dean got laughs by just standing there, holding a drink and a cigarette. Now THAT’s cool!”

Gracie Allen was one cool, classy and I think very sexy lady. She had style.

Both women were hysterical. But one thing to consider: Lucille Ball created a lot of her own material. George Burns created Gracie's.

reply

Results matter. Origins do not.

To reiterate: George Burns: “Gracie was funnier than I am.”
