It's about a nice old black man (who is not a slave) who imparts some of his wisdom to two white kids he makes friends with. It's the greatest role of actor James Baskett's career. Damn us to hell if we want to see it!
shareI'm not a big fan of this movie, I didn't like Brer Fox, Rabbit, Bear, etc.
But maybe this would be a good vehicle for something new like Space Jam where you get hip new celebrities like Labron James and Beyonce to interact with the characters of SOTS, maybe the crows from Dumbo, and miscellaneous other "offensive" older toons with some funny gags, maybe some unintended hurt feelings, and some sort of newfound sensitivity/respect at the end of the show.
Just bust it open and see if it works.
And fuck Disney. If they're not using it, another artist has the right to steal it.
