The bad news is that about 40 minutes was cut for the theatrical release, and back then, when they cut film, they just swept it into the trash...

What good is an epic movie without lovey-dovey stuff???? Hint: this movie isn't about the Civil War, it's a story of two families involved in lovey-dovey stuff that takes place before, during, and after the Civil War.

That lovey dovey stuff is the main point of the story. It just happens during the Civil War. 😄
