The dog

The dog was very well trained and so cute. I really enjoyed this movie--Charles Laughton's character was so evil in this movie and of course he did a fantastic job along with all the other human actors.

The real-life dog, Flush, is the subject of a biography written by Virginia Woolf=}

Absolutely the cutest and sweetest dog I've ever seen. Loved him!

Did the father in real life intend to have the dog killed?

I was wondering that myself, thank goodness she took him with her.

I am currently watching it now, the dog even gets an opening credit. You do not see that often.

There's a lovely picture of the dog Flush on 'Age of Indiscretion' (1935) poster. That was Flush's only other film.
