Surprised there's no great movie about the Wright Brothers

Matt Damon was supposedly working on one, based on the David McCullough book.

There's so much more to the story than the 10-second clip of the first plane flying a few hundred yards on the beach in Kitty Hawk.

Damn, Wilbur died young, 10 years after their first flight.

I taught 5th grade many years and every year we did a “Wax Museum” studying, then dressing up and posing as, famous Americans. Then the students were brought to life and gave a memorized speech about their person.

No matter how many times I heard it, the story of what these brothers did always amazed me. I mean, you want powered flight? Well, we’ll just build our own engine, no biggie!

The kids were always amazed and learned a lot from one aspect every single character shared, that every person they studied had to overcome incredible obstacles and difficulties. This story really needs to be told.

THE WRIGHT BROTHERS WERE THE ORIGINAL JACKASS CREW...ABSOLUTELY INSANE.

It's a great book, but I don't think it's movie material. No real antagonist, not much high drama, the climax was just flying a few feet off the ground for several seconds.

In do highly recommend the book however, it's a easy read, not too technical as McCullough is a master at weaving personalities, the description of the age and making technology available at the time easily comprehendible into a great read.

One of those books that's hard to put down.
