Mystique's problem always was that she had no personality. She just looks cool with her shapeshifting ability and blue skin. But no Rebecca Romijn, no Jennifer Lawrence could give her personality. She always looks like brain dead robot who takes orders and doesn't think about it. What makes her boring.

They only put her upfront in Young X-Men only because Jennifer Lawrence suddenly blew up and was biggest star during filming. And still could not make her human and interesting. And she had 4 movies to do so.

So no, we don't need her back in X-Men. And Mystique in general. And that Beast nonsense. He is as boring but completely useless.
