Spanish golden visa

I think that is how Amber Heard is staying in Spain, currently only requires buying a €500K property, which I think she bought, enables her to have a residential visa.

She can obtain permanent residency after 5 years staying there, citizenship after 10 years.

She is saying something like she will come back to Hollywood for right project, but she certainly can't audition from Spain.

So she is probably not going back to US.

She looks like she’s having fun in Madrid and the people there like her. She speaks Spanish and seeing her with her daughter has made many around her to comment that both are a delight to see. And Depp is happy in the UK. His movie is debuting in Cannes in a few days with the great director Maiwen. So both moved out of the US. Nothing’s permanent.

I have read a lot about foreigners settling in Spain lately. Is their policy more open to that versus other EU countries? I know the UK is putting down the gauntlet on immigration into their country.

It seems so, due to the fact within EU people can move and migrate freely, there are advantages to move to the EU countries where resident visas are easier to get.

But I think EU has started to crack down on member countries allowing resident visas and citizenship too easily, so in future it could become more difficult, but not sure by how much.
