Malcolm X or Martin Luther King Jr.?

Malcolm all the way. Martin Luther King was great, but I think Malcolm had the more realistic approach and assessment of just what they were up against. I don't agree with pacifism. You can't be pacifist when you're up against a blood-soaked empire that will bomb whole nations to ruins without a second thought. I also think Malcolm had the better international perspective, linking black people's struggle in the US to the anti-colonial revolution sweeping Africa and the global south against Euro-American imperialism. The struggle isn't just against racism in one country, but imperialism as a whole, which is where racism comes from. Martin Luther King eventually got near that position when he linked the Vietnam War and US militarism to racial oppression at home, but Malcolm still had the better grasp on it.

Malcom was more raw & pragmatic & less "Let's all stand in a circle & holds hands" the way MLK was early on, even though that has been greatly exaggerated over the years. MLK was a lot more radical than he gets presented in the mainstream. Particularly towards the end
