Should She Apologise to Mike Pence?

Firstly, I'll state from the get-go that I can't stand Mike Pence and his homophobic politics.

However, fair is fair, and irrespective of how I might feel about a particular individual, I will always seek to treat them objectively and fairly, and only hold them to account for things they have or haven't done, and not mere conjecture or indeed erroneous accusations.

Apparently, Page made a statement during 'The Late Show with Steve Colbert' where she specifically blamed Pence's anti-LGBT beliefs for the alleged violent assault on Jussie Smollett.

Well, it's now becoming increasingly apparent that Smollett orchestrated a hoax.

That being the case, shouldn't Page, and maybe even Colbert for giving her a platform for her accusation, now offer an apology to Pence? Because, whatever one thinks of his homophobic beliefs and the potential for them to incite a hate crime, it is absurd to continue blaming him for an incident that did not happen.

Likewise, Senator Kamala Harris should restore whatever credibility she may have by retracting her statement about a 'modern day lynching'.

Jussie made quite frankly made fools out of these liberals but hopefully they will now learn from this experience to keep their mouths shut in future until they know the full facts.

Yes, I bet some of you 'liberals' here will attack me for 'trying to censor marginalised and minority voices', but think rationally here; did speaking out early with respect to Jussie's 'attack' do any liberal any good?

I thought not.

she was wrong to blame pence aanyway. even if it wasnt a hoax, what the hell did pence have to do with a hate crime against a gay man? thats how close-minded liberals are today. that they can connect dots that are nowhere near eachother just to make their witch hunt easier. as if mike pence is the only homophobic jesus freak in america? give me a break. he had nothing to do with this.

the fact that it was all a hoax is just icing on the cake and makes page, along with the rest of these liberal elites look like the phony slactivists they are. all talk and no action. they prop themselves up on their ivory pedestals and pat themselves on the back over the things they say even whenits horse shit.

This is what the media does. It is nothing mre than virtue signalling.

Many progressive celebrities, including, it seems, Page, are the same way.

reply

In Page's case it might be less about virtue signalling, and more about victim culture. After all, she is herself part of the LGBTQ community.

I tend to think of 'virtue signalling' for where someone makes great, and often insincere, pains to demonstrate that they care about an oppressed group that they don't themselves belong to.

This describes the media culture to a 't', I think, Mr M. However, what you said about Page does give me something to consider, and for that, thank you.

reply

You'd think it would be hard for someone so wealthy to see herself as a victim... of imaginary street thugs... with different political views.

reply

Mr M, I think it would be the right thing to do.
