1) Mara has only ever identified as straight and is married. If she doesn't say anything, then the rumors start that her husband is just a shill.
2) If she denies it, then you know someone is going to claim she is homophobic and try to ruin her.
She's doing one of Q and A's with Elliott I think coming up for his book. So she's clearly not trying to deny it. Also this has nothing to do with Jamie Bell. This is before she met him. This was with Max Minghella, who supposedly knew about it and gave Kate the all clear to pursue her thing with Elliot (not something I would do personally, letting my girlfriend sleep with someone else but it's their relationship). From what we hear, Kate fell in love with Elliott and still loved Max and even after it ended did a film with Elliott (My Days of Mercy, which had a few sex scenes in it between them).
Elliott also had a thing with his Juno co-star Olivia Thirlby.

It's easy to assume their lesbian love was before her marriage. So it's OK.
