Hill Street Blues

Don't really recall his character.

Anyone with any further insight - was he in it for many seasons?

reply

He was in it for 144 episodes. Not sure how many series. He was one of the main cast. He was a detective and was always featured quite prominently. Surprised you would not know him if you know the series.

He always dressed pretty snappily, and if I remember rightly I think he had a habit of chewing on a cocktail stick. He was also usually partnered with another detective JD Larue played by Kiel Martin, who was a bit of a Don Johnson lookalike and a bit of a ladies man.

Thanks!

No I don't really know the series. But the funny thing was I was watching the opening credits on YouTube - primarily to listen to the music - and vaguely remembering the faces.

I was really young when this was on many years ago but when I would stay with my grandparents, my grandad would watch it on a Saturday night. Anyway, I'm watching these opening credits and like I said very vaguely recognising the faces, e.g. Robert Prosky and weirdly Joe Spano for some reason( honestly no idea what his character was but recall the face)!

But as to Taurean Blacque no recollection whatsoever...

You are obviously remembering the later seasons if you mention Robert Prosky, as he replaced original actor Michael Conrad who passed away.

But Taurean Blaque was credited in the intro for all seasons so he was quite prominent.

In the credits for the first few seasons he was indeed chewing on a cocktail stick.

I was looking at this:-

1985. Looks to be holding a machine gun (?) rather than a cocktail stick.

Anyway, Blacque aside, what an incredible theme tune for a TV show...

That credit sequence is from one of the later series, they changed it a few times throughout the run.
