Why is he so gummy?

Hey I love this guy, although I wish he looked more like a man with a backbone rather than this:

Why is he so gummy looking? He's a great dancer and funny man, but can't he ever stand straight? I guess it's part of his appeal, but his awesome talent kinda gets bogged down by his typical gummyness, even when he's playing strong and straight guys.

I wish he could be in some movie where Sam Rockwell disappears completely into his character, leaving the gummy man out.

Sam Rockwell always looks like a dangerous man to me. I always half expect to read about him going berserk and raping and murdering women en masse.

I'm sure that doing him an injustice. I like him and I enjoy his acting.

He looks like a nice sweet guy to me, never felt he would be dangerous other than in a pretend kind of way. It's kinda difficult to think of an actor that would be threatening for real in the real world, certainly not him.
