Favorite Performance? (Besides The Joker)

For me, it's Ennis Del Mar from "Brokeback Mountain". Up until "The Dark Knight", I didn't think Ledger would ever top that role.

It's hard to decide a favourite performance between the Joker or Ennis Del Mar. Both were equally astonishing, but in their own totally unique ways. The Joker is obviously meant to be an attention seeker and he changed so much for the role and disappeared into the character, but his performance in Brokeback Mountain had so much depth, subtlety and dedication behind it. Everyone praises his performance in that, from other great actors to the writer of the original short story. He was simply perfect. But he's the reason The Dark Knight is so rewatchable, and the power of his performance never ceases to fade even after all these years.

I love the one from 10 things I hate about you, Ennis Del Mar, and from Candy.

Including TDK... Brokeback Mountain.

Heath's portrayal of Ennis is my favourite of all time and the best performance I've ever seen. I absolutely love it.

After that I'd probs give TDK 2nd place and his performance in Monsters Ball 3rd. Although, purely on 'favourite' roles of his, 10 Things in 2nd... Then TDK 3rd.

Brokeback Mountain, followed closely by The Patriot.

Brokeback Mountain

But he had some very good work in there stuff like Candy, Lords of Dogtown, Two Hands and 10 Things I hate About You.

I think even if he lived he would have found it tough to come close to his Joker turn in any performance.

I never paid that much attention to him before but he completely changed my image of him in Brokeback Mountain.

The only other movie I saw and liked Heath Ledger in was The Patriot, inky teeth and all.

I liked him a lot as Tony in Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. And, while we're on the subject of Gilliam, although the movie was disappointing and mediocre, his work in The Brothers Grimm was marvelous and very much against type.
