The last great American President

Anyone else agree?

reply

Totally agree.

No idea why it's so fashionable to say this. Seems like a regular old politician to me.

reply

Nope. Anti-gun, refused to take responsibility for his actions, colluded with Iran to keep the hostages until he was sworn in, then allowed massive amounts of weapons to be sold to Iran then used that money to fund the Contras. Very corrupt.

Of course Reagan was anti-gun. He was almost assassinated!

The conspiracy theory with Iran, is that the one where Bush had to fly in a sr71 to reach a meeting? That is one of my favorite conspiracy theories.

reply

No. I think George HW Bush was the last great American President. His war (The Gulf War) was a resounding victory. The Cold War actually ended on his watch. He captured Manuel Noriega. Just these three feats alone make him a great American President.

reply

1- He left Hussein in power.
2- Soviet Union collapsed just 2 years after Reagan left office.
3- Only positive thing that Bush did.

reply

Ok, just to play Devil's advocate - there was a reason to leave Hussein in power - keeping some stability in the area. History (plus what his son did) proved he was right.

You're right about Reagan. Reagan had more to do with The Cold War ending than George HW did. However, it did actually end on George HW's watch as I said.
