Boldly to go; To go boldly; To boldly go...

Anyone read his latest book? Thoughts?

"To boldly go" is a grammatical mistake; however, it reads and sounds better than either of the correct alternatives. Perhaps splitting the infinitive is one of those evolutions language should be making.

It's been made.

Style guides like "The Chicago Manual of Style" now accept the use of split infinitives in formal writing and suggest importance be placed in clarity and natural language use, especially if avoiding the split would create an awkward or unclear sentence.

He's 92 but still looks and sounds good. Hopefully we'll see him make it to 100.
