Jeff Bridges and Kurt Russell are the New Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones

It was bound to happen. Both Duvall and Jones are aging on into their eighties and can't quite deliver the "grizzled middle-aged white man" support they did for decades.

Meanwhile, we've watched Bridges and Russell grow up from child stardom(Russell) and youth roles through sexy middle-age and now they are in their late sixties....

...just in time to take over for Duvall and Jones supporting younger players (like the casts of Guardians of the Galaxy, Fast and the Furious and Kingsman) on the basis of their age and their screen history.

They'll be good for at least ten more years of movie work!

Tommy Lee Jones is only 3 years older than Jeff Bridges

Is he really? He seems to have been old forever.

I remember reading about how he was only 17 years older than Brat Pitt when they starred in Ad Astra. That would have made him a very young father in that movie... and a high school kid when he was the established scientist that he was supposed to be.

Brad Pitt always looked way younger than his actual age. And of course TLJ made a career out of playing curmudgeonly old fogies... probably not too far from his real personality, lol

Wow. I didn't even look up his age -- Duvall, I knew was getting up there -- after 80, its hard to maintain that ferocity.

With Jones, I think the issue is that his face is actually getting difficult to look at on the screen --its worse looking than a "regular face." (This happened back in the 70's with craggy TV and movie star Richard Boone, drinking the cause in his case.)

...sadly, I return to this thread when the news is that Jeff Bridges in his early 70's is fighting cancer. He was funny about it, quoting the Dude: "New shit has come to light." And he took a great photo of himself in his hospital room after treatment.

Here's hoping the Dude abides, and Mr. Bridges can keep working.

True that
