Potentially the best batman ruined by DC's impatience and Snyders writing.

In terms of looks he comes closest to frank miller/ Kevin Conroys portrayal of batman which I grew up on.

a 6'4 230lb beast who in a 1v1 would have broken Christian bales Banes back in the first 10 seconds and throw him aside like a rag doll. And had seen some truly horrific shit over the years

And While Snyder gave us a bad ass brute, he didnt give us the worlds greatest detective and DC didn't have the patience to work towards an avengers level teamup and threat and instead tried it on the second movie when it hadn't been earned.

its a shame because they basically ruined what could have been great

reply

I thought he was great as well. Then again, I really like Frank Miller’s Batman, and thought Affleck really nailed that tone.

reply

Its truly sad DC is soo inept. Its surprising because their animated movies are either meh to outstanding.

they had all the material they needed.

reply

Not really. Looks means nothing. Script, direction, craft means everything.

Ranking:

1. Michael Keaton, who looked nothing like Batman, was the best Batman because the 1989 film was amazing.
2. Christian Bale did good in the role and had a good director who made the films worthwhile. Although, I am not a Dark Knight nut like everyone else seems to be.
3. Val Kilmer. I had a hoot with Batman Forever when it came out in 1995. the film is a bit cheesy today, but it's better than Snyder.
4. Ben Affleck takes fourth place. He carried a lot of weight (no pun intended) over from his private life and earlier movies to completely work as Batman. But any potential was crushed by the man who picked him: the horrifically untalented Zack Snyder.
5. George Clooney. Batman & Robin was horrid for all ages back in 1997.

*I loved Robert Pattinson as Batman, and he might take #2 place, but I'll let him grow into the role before he enters the official ranking.

Now someone needs to produce a film adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns, with Chuck Norris in the lead

reply

A Chuck Norris joke, how original.

reply

if you rank Val above Affleck you arent going to be taken seriously by anyone

reply

Val was in a better movie, and that's why I rank him higher.

reply

if you think batman forever was a better film I cant take you seriously

reply

If I think Batman Forever is better than Batman v Superman? Of course I do. But then again, most films are better than that dreck.

reply

no BvS esp the extended one is superior, and I dont even like that film. I just see Batfleck as a missed opportunity.

All of batman Forever combined isnt even 1/10th the quality of the warehouse scene of BVS.

reply

Batfleck as a missed opportunity is a point we can agree on.

And that Leonardo DiCaprio is the best actor of his generation is another (at least I gather that's your opinion).

reply

BvS was bad. Lex Luthers casting and character was one of the most mishandling of a character ive ever seen

its weird because Snyder can make good superheroes movies. I love the Watchmen.. but that was a (without the extended) nonsensical incoherent mess. and even extended still bad.

I feel like Snyder was forced to shortcut to an "avengers style" teamup without earning it first with 4 solo films. but nothing excuses Jesse Eisenberg

reply

He did a good job but he couldn't do it for the long run.

reply

Affleck did a good job (better than I expected). He could have been excellent, but wasn't helped by a) ludicrous 'creative' decisions by Snyder, and b) costumes that made him look bloated, even though he wasn't (he did look absolutely badass in the BvS armoured suit). For me his best performance was in The Flash. He seemed comfortable and relaxed, as both Batman and Bruce Wayne.

reply

i just watched it afew days ago it was short but a great performance. his bat voice also was great imo. hid his real voice, didn't sound silly like bales in the first dark knight and actually sounded badass
