Was he really all that funny?

Or just a sad, pathetic clown stuck in the soul of someone who performed without rehearsal for the situation he placed himself in? I mean, come on,to me he seemed the consumable, phychological jokester who was unable to transform his reality into the process that sane people live every day. I didn't find him funny, just irritating. Every show, he seemed coked out of his mind, and we, as a community, laughed and praised this man for being so hilarious!? Go to any state hospital and you'll run in to hundreds of Robin Williams!

No. He babbled very fast, and stalked back and forth on the stage manically. Did the same jokes decade after decade (John Wayne, gay guy, etc.). Not very funny. Sorry he died, though.

No, he was hyperactive, which was just annoying. I never liked him or laughed at him even once.

I found him completely & utterly exhausting when he was "on" (which he unfortunately seemed obligated to be at all times). The only time I could truly stomach him was in his serious roles.

Growing up I found him hilarious but as I got older I started seeing it was just a frenzy of noise and once he took his own life I could see that he was a very troubled person and the frenzied approach was almost like trying to get away from himself.

I watched Good Morning Vietnam a couple of years ago and it was not funny at all compared to when I saw it when it came out. His non comedies tend to be outright depressing.
