His worst movie?

What do you all think it is?

reply

"1941" (1979) followed by "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls" (2008) and then either the boring "Lincoln" (2012) or the sappy "War Horse" (2011).

Note: I never saw "Always" (1989)

Like Stanley Kubrick he never made a bad movie, in my opinion, until now.
He made a fews not so good movies, they are "good less":
1-Lincoln
2-War of Worlds
3-Lost World
4-Amistad.
In a 1/10 scale, all of this movies are 6/10, for me.
He never made less than it.

reply

I liked Lincoln from a historical standpoint.

But war of the worlds, lost world, and the last Indy movies are the ones I like least. Borderline brutal.

reply

1941 by far. It's unbearable.

reply

pardon me...but war horse was *beep* beautiful. Admitedly, no Jaws, but as he gets older he wants to make films with more meaning, and damn fine film it is

reply

I agree with war horse, generally i hate movies about horses and sports(i mean the ones that couch starts with a loser team and at the end they win against all odds!)

reply

That doesn't mean it's a great movie. That just means Janusz Kaminski deserved his nomination along Emmanuel Lubezki and Robert Richardson.

"War Horse" is definitely his "worst" film. That's not to say it's a bad film. The cinematography is gorgeous and John Williams' main theme is lush, but apart from that, it just feels like Spielberg on auto-pilot. It's too saccharine and the relationship between the kid and the horse borderlines on some incredibly creepy ideas.

The Terminal.

reply

Agreed! Stupid, boring and totally anticlimactic.
