"Anyone who has seen a Marvel film could not in all truth make that statement"

I've seen plenty of them, and comparing them to theme park rides is fair and accurate.

That doesn't make them bad. They're very entertaining. They just aren't setting out to do the same thing that "cinema" is trying to do. They aren't trying to be art (high or low) they are trying to do something else - all-stops-pulled entertainment. I think they accomplish their mission very well, although I don't think of them the same way I think of most movies.

I think his beef with marvel is they are taking over cinemas as theres so many of them 3-4 a year (and that's without DC) each making about 1b now ...making other films doing respectable Box Office look like flops and killing non comic book movies or sending them to Netflix like Irishman

I mean Bond films are the same movie over and over but they are out like once every 3 years..and are really their own thing .. same with Mission Impossible, Batman, Terminator, even Star Wars (although Marvel kind of made Disney feel they could Marvelize SW which didn't work) so they aren't taking over the cinema like MCU is making other studios get jealous and try to do their own Marvel

Loud-and-clear, yes! I've gotten quite bored with superhero movies (and Star Wars, to a lesser extent) because of over-saturation and a lack of alternatives.

Anybody else miss when they'd release comedies at all? Or grown-up people movies like As Good As It Gets, Broadcast News, or The Fugitive?

I have a lot of love for child-friendly or teen-oriented properties (superheroes are fun!, and if you don't like ET, you might be dead inside...)

Everything's homogenized, and it feels like it's all dumbed-down, too.

What fight? It's quite obvious that Scorsese has seen some Marvel movies and knows what he's talking about.

You can agree or disagree with his position, that's the debate, but saying that he just hasn't seen a marvel movie? wtf? Bob Iger is talking non-sense.
