How much involvement did George Lucas have with creating the official stories and characters in the Star Wars books, video games, comics, etc.? Did he actually direct writers to craft his ideas into new works or did he just simply approve and edit writer’s “fan fiction” to be released as official Star Wars books?

shareGeorge was absolutely behind a bunch of the early video games, he developed them just like the movies. There's lots of footage of him doing that stuff. But for all the books, he was basically just signing off on that stuff. He's given interviews where he's like he doesn't even know what they're doing, but sure, why not.
