A movie star, but not a great actor

Does anyone else think that Harrison Ford is more of a movie star than an actor? When I mean movie star I mean to compare him to John Wayne (who I think is great), a recognizable presence, who could play a roll well, but limited range.

He worked in several of my favourites movies and he is for me an icon.
Granted, the last films are not really good but yes, for me is a movie star and a great actor.

Though he is well known for his high profile roles, I did like him very much in Witness, Frantic and The Fugitive. In these movies he seemed to emote more.

But he is clearly at that age now where he is probably coasting along, probably not that many acting roles left to him now.

John Wayne is not a good actor. If you'd said Karl Malden, I'd agree.

I did not say John Wayne was a good actor. He is good at playing a cowboy in westerns. Good in a very limited range.
