Why is Sandra Bullock the #1 and the last female movie star of this era?

With the box office opening of "The Lost City" on March 25, 2022, Sandra Bullock, 57 years old, becomes the only actress to be FIRST billed and open #1 films in 4 decades - 1990s, 2000s, 2010s, 2020s. She has remained consistent across multiple genres: action, comedy, romance, sci-fi, and drama. "The Lost City" is her 1st romantic comedy since 2009.

In "The Proposal", her love interest was the much younger Ryan Reynolds. In "The Lost City", her love interest is the much younger Channing Tatum. Usually, it is male stars who are "allowed" to have younger on screen lovers, so this is another "accomplishment". The audience does not even seem to care and "buys" it.

Sandra is also the top NETFLIX actress. "Bird Box" was a major success in 2018 and remained the most streamed Netflix film until 2021. It was Netflix's 1st real film hit and led the way for other major film stars to sign on to Netflix projects.

Her film "The Unforgiveable" debuted on Netflix in December 2021 and quickly became one of the most viewed Netflix films of all time.

Why do you think that Sandra Bullock is the most reliable female movie actress as it relates to people actually watching her releases? Unfortunately, no other actresses have enjoyed the consistent success as Sandra Bullock at the box office. They may be better actresses, but the public has not embraced them as much as they do Sandra.

Sandra Bullock was considered the lesser version of Julia Roberts in the 1990s until 2009 when she seemed to surpass Julia with box office hits "The Proposal" and "The Blind Side", which both made over $300 million worldwide in 1 year. It was the first time that an actress had achieved that feat. Suddenly, Sandra Bullock was the main America's Sweetheart and no longer in Julia Roberts' shadow.

Interestingly, note that Sandra does NOT have any official social media accounts - no Facebook, Instagram, et cetera. She pretty much keeps a low profile unless she's promoting a project.

I like watching Sandra Bullock and apart from her talent I think she's pulled off a pretty clever trick - she is beautiful but has always 'toned that down' to looking pretty. Beauty ages or goes out of fashion so that's a pitfall she has dodged.
I also suspect she runs a very good production company which puts together and controls good packages. She is not over-exposed - there are big gaps between releases (I sometimes think too big) and the films themselves are good to very good - no duds (IMHO).
And perhaps another factor is she seems nice and well liked. The outtakes in her films look like everyone is having a lot of fun. I've seen other threads on these boards that suggest being popular within Hollywood is another way to prolong a career and this too may be a factor.

I have read both Clooney and Jack Nicholsons biographies and in both they played the system extremely well. the were very popular among the execs and at parties so were basically darlings.

Clooney is kind of famous for having an incredibly long streak of duds before E.R. they basically just stuck with him until something landed
