She didn't age very well. Too many cigarettes, too much booze maybe. The stars didn't take care of themselves that well back then.
I agree. She struggled with her weight in her later years — it was up and down dramatically but generally trending upward. By the time she was hawking her fragrance on TV commercials she was on the heavy side. As I recall, the commercials were kind of gauzy and soft focus, probably because she wasn’t looking her best.
