film about alien who returns to earth to find his childhood sweetheart

its kind of a low-budget film, but its witty & fun. he goes around making friends, being goofy - he's sort of stuck in the 80s, from when he was a kid - which he is still, though in an adult body. there is twist at the end.

does anyone recall that film - it wasn't a blockbuster.
