Is Nick Cage the worst A level actor?

I think he has a real gift for playing characters that are off-kilter, emotionally distant, self-involved or casually violent and foolhardy.

I’d bet you a crisp dollar bill he could have nailed the role of the lunatic Travis Bickle in Taxi Driver or the tragic hero Sgt. Elias in Platoon.

Cage is top shelf talent, he just had to do some crappy movies because he got into tax troubles.

Maybe. I think Harrison Ford, Keanu Reeves and Ryan Reynolds could all be in the running, but what they have going for them is that they're all likeable to some extent. Nick Cage is bad and unlikeable for the most part.
