What's your thoughts on a 'high surveillance' society?

Licence Plate monitors recording who is driving.
Video cameras on roads and streets capturing faces.
Cellphones recording everyone's current location.
Cashless society recording your every transaction.

Hard to do anything now without being monitored.

It makes it harder for criminals to get away with things, and easier for police to find their man. That's good, especially for stopping the worst of the worst.

But...does the good outweigh the bad?

I’m not important enough to care.

The government disagrees..

They can watch all they like - they’ll soon get bored.

Didn't this start with 9/11? After they passed the "Patriot Act", our privacies have become sacrificed every year since then.

reply

Yes, but it's also a consequence of computers and cameras interconnecting.

reply

Just take away people's guns. Some forms of crime will decrease on their own.

reply

even though I was caught on camera once, I do like the thought of being monitored now if they can check out our groceries that would be great, of course I am very old and no one cares what I do any more and I do not bank on line

reply

I like it because it makes it easy for me to spy on people. I'm watching you right now...

reply

Show me the stats of less crime as a result and I'll be on board.

But it looks to me like hoarding of information until needed and make-work projects for middle to upper class folks.
