Can't for the life of me figure out why some (usually newer) movies on IMDb have different colors on their pages--blue, purple, just saw my first green today (Ambulance, go look if you don't know what I mean). Does anyone know what they stand for?
I believe that's an advertising thing. Whenever a new movie's coming out, I noticed the entire background and UI on IMDB changes color and often has a new wallpaper in the background. It's only temporary, of course. It depends on how much the movie company paid for advertising, including on IMDB. Not all new films get that treatment.
Normally blue links are unvisited links. Purple is normally visited links. I've never seen a green link and I just had blue of Ambulance on the Find page. Some of these are defaults set by your web browser but they can also be coded to specific colors by the web developer as well.
Ok, I guess I wasn't explaining this properly. It's not the links at all, haha, it's once you get to the actual IMDb page of a certain movie. For example, if you go to a random movie, say Independence Day, there is no specific color coding at all. It's a normal page, black background and white font. Now if you go to the Ambulance IMDb page, it's the same black background and white font, but with actor/director/writer names and other font/backgrounds in bright green. If you don't know what I mean, just visit these 2 IMDb pages and see the difference.
I really couldn't say. Just that this color appears to have been a deliberate choice on the part of IMDb and not part of the normal default color schemes of HTML.
