Boromir's guess the famous game #247 [Beast of Gévaudan is the famous creature, Boromir wins!]

1. I'm thinking of some famous figure, it can be a philosopher, politician, entertainer, scientist, fictional character, criminal, animal, being, etc.
2. You need to ask me a yes or no question about this person, for example, "Is the person still alive?," "Does the person work in the entertainment industry?," any question you can think of that helps you to reveal the answer. The host answers with yes or no only.
3. Maximum 1 question and 2 guesses per player per answer.
4. The winner can either start a new game or say "pass." In case of a pass, the OP gets to start another.
5. Can't edit a question or guess once posted. Delete ONLY.

The Beast of Gévaudan was an unknown man-eating animal that terrorized a rural region of southern France for several years in the mid-1700s. At first it was thought to be a wolf, but its size, behavior and the manner in which it killed its victims, as well as the fact that it preferred humans over livestock, ruled it out as an ordinary wolf. Speculation has held that the beast was an unusually large wolf, a wolf-dog hybrid, or some kind of large African animal such as a hyena or lion that could have escaped from some noble’s private menagerie. Some superstitious types at the time and since even thought it was a werewolf. At any rate, the beast was eventually killed after a reign of terror over the Gévaudan region lasting several years and after hundreds of people had been killed and injured by it. Even after its death, its species was never identified. Its legend continues to remain popular in France up to this day.

I had originally thought this would make a great subject for an October round, Halloween season and all, but didn't do it as we hadn't established that we can use animals yet.

Went ahead and started this one while I have a bit of time, but this day has been a bit hectic and unpredictable so it's possible I may have to pause a few times (perhaps even for an hour or more, though hopefully not) in the course of this round. Bear with me! :)
