Gabby Petitos coverage is not white privilege
It's more to do with the elements of a murder mystery story being there.
Pretty girl. Online following. Goes missing. Boyfriends story makes no sense. Boyfriend goes missing. Her body found.
It's a story with a lot of elements and gaps that provoke mystery, with the obvious connection being that her boyfriend killed her.
So when people say "what about this black guy or indigenous woman who went missing", well beyond reporting them going missing, what else can be said? "In tonight's news, Jane Doe who vanished without a trace still hasn't been found!"
Yeah, media doesn't work like that.
It's a shame that some people had to turn her tragic death into a protest against white privilege.
