What does the saying "a happening" mean?

Something cool or memorable that just occurred?

I hear it in things set in the 70s.

I think 'ol Ed calls them "The girls...here" because he forgot their name.

That's the only explanation...what a big goofball

Great song

I played it again and now I'm not sure what the hell he says after "The girls"

Poor Ed, he tried so hard to be down with the cool kids. Bless him.

A big event.

Nice of you to give him an honest answer, but you do understand he knows exactly what the term means, right? The poor kid is running out of topics. Pride month is coming to an end and he’s already thrashed out 4 or 5 complaint threads about that with declining traction, so he’s down to asking what universally understood phrases mean. What else is a lonely guy to do?

Just wait for the “What does the saying ‘Dime a Dozen’ mean?” thread. I’ll bet a dime it’s coming to a forum near you soon!

Okay. I was giving him the benefit of the doubt since the word was more common in the 1960s and 1970s. You never know the age of these posters, or if they may be from another country that doesn't use this expression.

Now that you informed me, I'll watch out for this. Thanks.

reply

I actually got another one in me so I'll do it now.
